Tips for Companies Hiring
- Why do I need to fill this position?
- Have a job description approved by the manager for whom the new hire reports.
- Hire from within the company whenever possible. Let employees know of job openings.
- Check references and other people in the industry who might know about the candidate.
- Look for character, integrity and accountability. A reputation for results.
- Search for the right person.
- Check non-compete agreements.
- Does the candidate have a basic knowledge of computers?
- Will the candidate fit into the company's future and culture?
- Ask, "If I owned the company, would I hire this candidate?"
